JOB SUMMARY
-
Provides total patient care in accordance with physician’s orders and individual patient needs in conformance with the recognized standards of nursing practice.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assesses patient and/or conducts screenings and documents utilizing standard scales when indicated as required per organization.
- Prioritizes and documents patient problems based on assessed needs/problems in collaboration with patient, family, and health care team.
- Documents changes in patient condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care/intervention.
- Utilizes organization-wide safe medication practices including, but not limited to the 5 rights of medication administration, barcode scanning and other medication safety processes specific to the unit/department.
- Knows actions and usual dosage, indications and side effects of medications administered.
- Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant other as needed according to the care, treatment services and identified risks specific to the patient and documents patient and/or family understanding.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement:
-
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurses.
-
Maintains active RN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or other NLC other state as applicable.

Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
-
Achieves and maintains other certifications as required by department:
-
Adult Patient Care Units- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first 90 days of hire.

Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
