Behavioral Health Specialist

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Assists patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties, which predispose illness or interfere with obtaining maximum benefits from medical care, by performing the following duties.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    • Works in close collaboration with physicians and other health care personnel in patient evaluation and treatment to further their understanding of significant social and emotional factors underlying patient’s health problem.
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Helps patients and families through individual or group sessions to understand, accept and follow medical recommendations.
    • Develops, evaluates, revises and implements psychiatric evaluations and educational materials.
    • Prepares psychosocial assessments with diagnosis and treatment recommendations, follow-up plans and documents in the medical record as needed.
    • Provides follow-up care to restore patient to optimum social and health adjustment within patient’s capacity.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Master’s degree (M.S.W.) in Social Work
      • Two years psychiatric patient experience
      • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) in the State of Kentucky
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • NA

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Works indoors in an office/clinic setting
    • The noise level is usually moderate
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Frequently required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer
    • Frequently required to move about in dept. and to other areas of the hospital
    • Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
