JOB SUMMARY
-
Responsible to nursing care under the direct supervision of Physicians and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (APRNs). Effectively manages the patient movement throughout the medical practice ensuring timely rooming, turnover and patient flow supporting physician and APRN efficiency.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares the patient for physician and/or APRN by consistently obtaining patient vitals, chief complaint, past medical history, medication history and updates, medication for reordering needs, updates health maintenance (i.e., last mammography) with each visit, and ensures best practice alerts are addressed prior to physician and/or APRN visit.
- Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples. Collects specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Provides basic patient care as ordered based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Documents assessment and effectiveness and timeliness of are/intervention.
- Executes and/or assists in prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Utilizes organization-wide safe medication practices including, but not limited to the 5 rights of medication administration, barcode scanning and other medication safety processes specific to the unit/department. Knows actions and usual dosage, indications and side effects of medications administered.
- Actively manages the nursing in basket responsibilities in a timely fashion and performs registration duties as needed not limited to, but including call backs, referrals, and customer check-in/out as evidenced by positive customer results.
- Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant other as needed according to the care, treatment services and identified risks specific to the patient and documents patient and/or family understanding.
- The Lead LPN preforms the above duties as well as leading the day to day work of the team.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement:
-
Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing.

Maintains active LPN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and/or Ohio as indicated by department and potential assignment.

Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
-

Preferred qualifications:
-
One year LPN experience.
