Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Teaches BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), or other ECC courses as needed through the CPR training center and executes the necessary work to certify students in emergency cardiac care (ECC) courses for the CPR Training Center (CTC).
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    • Maintains a current American Heart Association ECC instructor certification in BLS, ACLS or PALS and follows the standards and guidelines associated with each certification.
    • Instructor must teach at least eight (8) classes per calendar year.
    • Instructor agrees to be familiar with King’s Daughters training center’s method and materials and agrees to use these methods and materials.
    • Starts classes on time.
    • Collects fees for classes using appropriate money handling procedures as determined by the CTC and turns fees in to the Facilitator or designee immediately following the class and prior to cards being received.
    • Completes required paperwork within 24 hours of the class.
    • Distributes cards to students who have completed the class within 24 hours of receiving cards.
    • Cleans and organizes classroom prior to and after classes.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • High School Diploma or GED. 
      • Maintains a current American Heart Association ECC instructor/provider certification in BLS, ACLS or PALS. Current card must be on file in the training center office as well as Human Resources.
      • ACLS and PALS instructors: current practicing paramedic, RN/LPN or respiratory therapist with active licensure in applicable state.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • NA
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Works indoors in an office/clinic setting
    • May take equipment offsite to teach at remote locations.
    • The noise level is usually moderate
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Constantly required to maintain a stationary position while teaching throughout the day.
    • Frequently required to move about while demonstrating proper mechanics of CPR
    • Frequently required to move about inside the classroom.
    • Constantly required to communicate and face to face with colleagues and customers.
    • Constantly required to operate a computer and AV equipment.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
