Summary

  • Job Summary    
    • Kingsbrook provides  paid tuition for the KY SRNA program for the the SRNA Student as well as a paid position at Kingsbook while completing the training. 
       
      The SRNA Student provides ancillary non-clinical supportive services to residents in coordination with the nursing team, and the resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care while certification is pending.  All hands on care is provided by the nursing team.  The SRNA Student maintains a homelike environment for the residents and promotes resident rights.
  • Duties & Essential Functions
    • Provides non-clinical supportive care for the residents.  Non-clinical supportive care includes answering call lights and addressing needs that are of non-clinical nature including but not limited to obtaining a box of tissues, opening or closing blinds, placing items in easy reach, adjusting television volume and notifying a nurse or SRNA of a clinical need.  Education regarding meal times, activity information and other customer service related items may be provided by the SRNA Student to the resident and/or family member. 
    • Removes linens from beds on shower days or as directed by charge nurse.  Cleans and sanitized mattresses with approved cleaning/disinfecting agent.  Makes bed with bottom sheet, top sheet, draw sheet, bed pad and blanket.  Removes soiled linens from room in appropriate bag and places in appropriate containers for laundry. 
    • Assists SRNA’s with picking up completed meal trays from resident rooms.  Places in dietary transport cart.  Assists with taking carts and tray items to the kitchen as necessary.  Assists the SRNA’s with picking up water pitchers from resident rooms and transporting to the kitchen dish room for sanitization.  Assists with replacement of water pitchers in resident rooms per direction of charge nurse.  
    • SRNA Student may clean/disinfect shower chairs or shower beds, wheelchairs, Geri-chairs, walkers or other facility approved equipment that is used for residents.  Appropriate cleaning, disinfecting agents will be used.  Charge nurse will be notified of any defective equipment immediately. 
    • Transport residents via wheelchair to activities or provides escort service only from facility to front entrance for resident and family upon discharge.  SRNA Student may transport a resident to and from beauty shop for services.  SRNA Student may also be delegated to sit one on one with resident for a period of time providing interaction and observation which would be reported to the charge nurse. 
    • Professionally answers and transfers telephone calls as needed throughout the facility.  Professional interaction with residents, families and coworkers is expected. 
    • Follows direction and guidance of the nursing supervisor and/or charge nurse.  Completes delegated tasks in a prompt and courteous manner.  Reports directly to the charge nurse.
  • Education/License/Certification/Other Requirements
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Minimum or a high school diploma or equivalent.  Minimum of three months direct care experience in a healthcare setting preferred. 
      • Achieves KY SRNA as scheduled through paid training provided by Kingsbrook Lifecare Center and Ashland Community Technical College within 4 months of employment.

    • Constantly works near moving mechanical parts. 
    • Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.
    • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
    • Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Physical Demands
    • Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
    • Frequently required to walk and move about.
    • Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
    • Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
    • Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing. 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
