Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Perform routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, or providing information to callers.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    • Greets patients, visitors, physicians and sales people and directs them to their proper destination.  Answers telephone in a clear concise manner as directed per appropriate scripting.  Periodically checks waiting area to make sure all patients have been checked in.
    • Establishes priorities of specific patient and physician needs.
    • Responds to requests for information from other departments, hospital administration and physicians and providers.  Responds to immediate demands for appropriate information regarding patient test results.
    • Communicates effectively with physicians, physician office staff, nursing units, and ancillary departments.
    • Address envelopes for outgoing mail, takes to the mailroom to be processed, and places reports in physician mail slots for courier delivery services.
    • Process cardiology reports after completion, distributes to proper areas, scan signed reports and files records.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • High school education or general education degree (GED)
      • Must type 35 correct words per minute

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • This job operates in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers.
    • The noise level in this position is usually low.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Regularly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer .
    • Regularly required to communicate with callers telephonically and in-person requiring talking and hearing.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
    • Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
