Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Supervises the Environmental Services program to ensure clean, orderly and attractive conditions throughout the Medical Center, assures ample supply of clean linen and manages the hazardous waste program.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    • Supervises housekeeping staff to ensure cleanliness of Medical Center.
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service.
    • Makes daily rounds to coordinate cleaning activities through subordinates.
    • Inspects and evaluates physical condition throughout the Medical Center to identify sub-standard cleaning practices. Submits to Environmental Services Leader recommendations for painting, repairs and furnishings.
    • Routinely inventories supplies and equipment. Implements new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
    • Identifies needs and recommends new furnishings and applicable equipment. Oversees new employee orientation and training in housekeeping responsibilities. Responds to customer complaints in a timely manner.
    • Assists Leader in maintaining all JCAHO, OSHA and EPA compliance records.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • High school diploma or GED
      • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with superior customer service
      • Three to Five years’ experience in housekeeping
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions and extreme heat.
    • Constantly works near moving mechanical parts.
    • Constantlyexposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection. 
    • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold.
    • Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation.
    • Frequent stress associated with management of conflict situations, deadlines, change, employee vacancy and regulatory changes.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting)
    • Frequently required to walk and move about throughout the department and Medical Center.
    • Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
    • Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices
    • Frequently required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
    • Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
