Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Video Monitor Technician (VMT) role utilizes MedSitter remote patient safety audio and video monitoring technology, to remotely observe up to ten patients simultaneously. The objective of the remote patients’ safety monitoring program is to enhance patient safety. Utilizing MedSitter technology, the VMT will observe, communicate and document behaviors that could be disruptive to the patient plan of care.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Recognizes and practices within scope of certification and competency levels and relays any questions, concerns or situations requiring follow-up or attention to the supervising RN/LPN and seeks assistance when necessary.
    • Effectively communicates pertinent information in shift-to-shift and transfer reports and documents items in EPIC as indicated.
    • Provides one-on-one supervision with patients via video monitoring.
    • Proactively redirects patients using audio and video technology.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved State Registered Nursing Assistant Program.
      • Holds current certification as a State Registered Nursing Assistant in the State of Kentucky.
      • Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
    • Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection. 
    • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
    • Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
    • Frequently required to walk and move about.
    • Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
    • Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
    • Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing. 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
    • Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
