JOB SUMMARY
-
Responsible for procuring medications and supplies from appropriate sources and ensuring proper storage to maintain their quality and integrity.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures
- Effectively performs inventory management activities that ensure adequate stocks of medications, purchasing contract compliance, effective cost management and compliance with laws and regulations
- Contributes to the effective operation of the department including providing report of inventory and other general duties
- Participates in the quality improvement activities of the department including completing and documenting all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly
- Performs Pharmacy Technician and other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Identifies and retrieves all recalled medications, disposes of recalled medications per manufacture and FDA instructions, and maintains documentation on all recalled medications and action taken

EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement:
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required

Active Kentucky Board of Pharmacy license

Preferred qualifications:
-
6-12 months of inpatient Pharmacy experience

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
-
This job operates in a professional medical laboratory, office environments and other environments that may be subject to weather conditions

Regularly works near moving mechanical parts

Regularly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection

Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation

The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
