Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Assists the department with clerical/administrative duties in an effort to maintain smooth he Intake Specialist will be responsible for initial referrals through the billing process. This person will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure we are compliant with referral processes, authorization processes and billing processes as required by CMS. The Intake Specialist will also collaborate with the patient and family and any providers caring for the patient. This person will communicate effectively with nursing and therapy to identify patient needs and ensure all requirements are met to fulfill those needs.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Obtains authorizations for all services provided
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Completes registration for the patients to include: verifies address, verifies insurance and verifies caregivers
    • Ensures necessary documents are included in initial referral and request any missing information
    • Monitors Face to Face documentation and ensures accuracy of information
    • Mails discharge instructions to patient
    • Completes all aspects of billing to include intake through discharge
    • Other duties as assigned 
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • High School Diploma or GED. 
      • Must type 35 words per minute
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Associate’s Degree
      • One year healthcare related experience
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Works indoors in an office/clinic setting
    • The noise level is usually moderate
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Constantly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer.
    • Frequently required to move about inside the department.
    • Constantly required to communicate telephonically and face to face with colleagues and customers.
    • Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
