Job Summary

Responsible for providing therapeutic activities tailored to residents' interests and well-being. Coordinates individual programs to support lifelong interests, self-esteem, and overall functioning. Ensures activities promote physical, cognitive, and emotional health. Adheres to comprehensive care plans, facility policies, and regulatory requirements. Supports a positive and engaging environment for all residents.


Essential Functions

• Identifies and supports residents’ individual needs, preferences, routines, and choices, communicating relevant information to the department Manager.

• Develops and delivers individual, group, and bedside activities that reflect residents’ interests and accommodate various schedules, age groups, and genders.

• Plans and coordinates activities in diverse locations, incorporating seasonal and special events.

• Maintains current knowledge of professional activity standards and applies these principles to ensure quality services in a long-term care setting.

• Establishes and monitors criteria to ensure activities meet established standards of quality.

• Creates, posts, and distributes activity calendars to resident units and residents.

• Designs and facilitates structured activities tailored to cognitively impaired residents, such as music events, gross motor games, and outdoor walks.

• Adapts activities to maximize participation by segmenting tasks, providing prompts, physical support, demonstrations, and hand-over-hand assistance as needed.

• Collaborates with team members to continually enhance the activity program based on resident feedback and emerging best practices.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent experience



Experience Requirement

0-2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
