Job Summary

Responsible for providing safe, timely, and compassionate non-emergency transportation services for patients between healthcare facilities, residences, and appointments. Ensures patient comfort, safety, and dignity while assisting with boarding, exiting, and securing passengers and equipment. Maintains vehicle cleanliness, readiness, and compliance with institutional, state, and federal transportation regulations. Supports the clinical team by promoting a positive patient experience and upholding safety and service standards during all transport activities.


Essential Functions

• Operates ambulette vehicles safely and efficiently to transport patients to and from medical facilities and appointments.

• Assists patients with entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the transport process.

• Secures wheelchairs, stretchers, and other mobility devices in accordance with safety standards.

• Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers, and clinical staff to coordinate transport logistics.

• Maintains accurate trip logs, mileage records, and documentation of services provided.

• Inspects vehicles before and after each trip to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.

• Reports any vehicle maintenance issues, incidents, or delays promptly to the supervisor.

• Adheres to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality protocols at all times.

• Provides courteous and professional service, demonstrating sensitivity to patient needs and conditions.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent experience

Typically requires some specialized technical, vocational education, or equivalent


Experience Requirement

1-2 years of experience in healthcare support, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.


Certifications & Licensures

Maintains active Commercial Driver's License (CDL; Class B)
