Job Summary

Responsible for assisting physicians during invasive cardiovascular procedures by applying x-ray energy and computer processing techniques. Operates specialized imaging equipment to support diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. Ensures patient safety and comfort throughout procedures. Collaborates with healthcare teams to deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services. Adheres to established protocols and regulatory standards.


Essential Functions

• Greets, informs, and prepares patients for vascular, cardiac, or interventional procedures.

• Verifies patient identity, clinical history, and orders prior to procedures, participating in Universal Protocol.

• Labels all medications on and off the sterile field with proper identification.

• Circulates within the procedure room and procures necessary equipment.

• Performs quality control procedures to ensure proper equipment operation.

• Assists and performs procedures with cardiologists, radiologists, and vascular surgeons.

• Operates imaging equipment proficiently and recognizes operational problems.

• Interprets hemodynamics and utilizes the Whitt Monitor.

• Demonstrates competency in venipuncture and administers contrast media as prescribed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or equivalent.



Experience Requirement

0–2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.


Certifications & Licensures

American Registry of Radiological Technologists in Cardiovascular Intervention (ARRT) with ARRT Cardiovascular Intervention (CV) or Vascular Intervention (VI) certification obtained within 12 months, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale certified, Active applicable state radiographer license
