JOB SUMMARY
-
Serves as a member of the holistic health care delivery team providing for the spiritual component of care for patients, their family and friends, and members of the health care delivery team.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-
Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
-
Visits new admissions and patients/families referred to pastoral care for the purpose of identifying and assessing spiritual and special needs.

Counsels, encourages and comforts patients, their families and friends, and staff in spiritual and emotional need during hospitalization and crisis situations.

Serves as a resource to team members and staff members to address personal issues to improve team member productivity and effectiveness.

Conducts individual and group religious services on an "as needed" basis.

Nurtures a cooperative and supportive role with area clergy as well as participates in and maintains an active membership in a local church congregation.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum requirement:
-
Post-secondary education and ordination as a minister by one of the primary Christian denominations.
-

Preferred qualifications:
-
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training, Education, training and/or experience with sick and dying.
-
Master’s Degree in divinity, theology, counseling or related field.
-
Two to four years of experience as an institutional chaplain in healthcare.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the healthcare setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers.
