Job Summary

Evaluates, designs, and optimizes coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) processes within the middle revenue cycle to support organizational financial health and compliance. Provides insights through data modeling, reporting, and performance tracking to optimize coding accuracy, documentation quality, and workflow efficiency. Develops presentations, summaries, and deliverables to communicate findings and recommendations to leadership. Coordinates with stakeholders to evaluate coding and CDI processes, identify root causes, and implement improvements that align with organizational goals. Ensures data integrity, compliance, and effective use of coding and documentation performance metrics to support department initiatives.


Essential Functions

• Conducts detailed analysis of coding and CDI workflows, audit findings, and related financial data.

• Develops methodologies to calculate, track, and report key performance metrics including coding accuracy and documentation completeness.

• Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to coding and CDI, developing dashboards and reports for leadership decision-making.

• Prepares presentations, high-level summaries, and deliverables to communicate findings and recommendations to leadership regarding coding and CDI performance.

• Designs and implements process changes that support compliance and revenue integrity in collaboration with project teams.

• Identifies root causes of process inefficiencies in coding and CDI and develops solutions to improve compliance and outcomes.

• Supports development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and documentation related to coding and CDI business processes.

• Provides progress updates to management and escalates critical issues requiring leadership intervention in coding and CDI areas.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree


Experience Requirement: 5+ years of experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.


Certifications & Licensures: RHIA Certification, CPMA, CCDS, Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
