Job Description:

Job Summary

Responsible for evaluating, coordinating, and implementing individualized nutrition care plans for patients. Provides education and counseling to patients, families, and healthcare professionals on nutritional needs. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and performance improvement initiatives. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization. Serves as a role model, resource, and leader in clinical nutrition practice.


Essential Functions

• Performs nutritional screening and comprehensive assessment for all assigned patients.

• Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nutrition care plans, including enteral and parenteral nutrition support.

• Provides medical nutrition therapy, diabetes education, and counseling to individuals and groups.

• Assesses learning needs and abilities of patients, modifies educational materials, and evaluates comprehension following education or counseling.

• Documents all aspects of nutrition care, education, and counseling in a timely and accurate manner.

• Serves as a resource for nutrition information, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and participates in patient care conferences.

• Serves as a preceptor or trainer for dietetic interns, students, and new staff; maintains curriculum and evaluates performance.

• Participates in committees, work groups, projects, and evidence-based research to improve nutrition services and patient outcomes.

• Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and maintains current registration, licensure, and continuing education requirements.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in dietic, nutrition, or a related field

Master’s degree in nutrition is preferred


Experience Requirement

2-3 years of experience in dietic, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.


Certifications & Licensures

Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

Applicable state Dietician License
