Med Staff Credentialing Spec

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist is responsible for assisting in the provider credentialing process as well general coordination and support of Medical Staff Meetings.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Processes credentialing and re-credentialing for healthcare providers which includes, but not limited to verifications of competency, licensing, references, board certification, and other applicable data.
    • Performs primary source verifications and monitoring of credentials according to hospital policies, accreditations, and regulatory standards
    • Prepares and facilitates provider information to enrollment, committees, internal departments, and external entities.
    • Maintains all collaborative agreements between the medical staff and allied health professionals. 
    • Processes requests for new or additional privileges
    • Knowledgeable in Medical Staff Bylaws and Policies
    • Generates reports upon request
    • Attends required committee evening meetings, such as Credentials Committee and Quarterly Medical Staff Meetings.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Associates Degree from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience.
      • Six months to one year experience and/or training in a health care setting.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Experience and understanding of clinical function of hospital departments.
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Works indoors in an office/clinic setting
    • The noise level is usually moderate

    • Constantly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer.
    • Frequently required to move about inside the department.
    • Constantly required to communicate telephonically and face to face with colleagues and customers.
    • Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
