Job Description:

Job Summary

Responsible for providing health care services by applying radionuclides to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs nuclear medicine procedures and related techniques producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Ensures accuracy and quality of diagnostic images. Maintains compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards. Supports patient care by delivering timely and precise nuclear medicine imaging services.


Essential Functions

• Obtains and verifies physician orders, patient identity, and clinical history prior to examinations.

• Prepares, calculates, documents, and administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications in compliance with all regulations and ALARA principles.

• Recognizes life-threatening conditions and initiates basic life support as needed.

• Performs venipuncture and observes universal precautions for infection control.

• Positions patients and equipment to optimize imaging quality and patient comfort.

• Monitors patient condition during procedures, including respiration and ECG, and detects signs of distress.

• Evaluates images for technical quality and ensures accurate patient identification on all studies.

• Practices radiation protection to minimize exposure for patients, self, and others.

• Performs quality control testing on equipment and reports malfunctions, coordinating service as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

Graduate of a committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Nuclear Medicine Program or equivalent.



Experience Requirement

2-5 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.


Certifications & Licensures

Registered Nuclear Med Tech (CNMT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Nuclear Medicine R.T.(N), Basic Life Support (BLS)
