Job Summary
Responsible for collecting patient specimens in inpatient and outpatient settings. Provides specimen receipt and processing support to ensure accurate laboratory workflow. Demonstrates compassion, maintains reliable performance, and delivers excellent interpersonal communication. Collaborates with clinical teams to support patient care and laboratory operations. Ensures high standards of service and teamwork in all interactions.
Essential Functions
• Performs blood collections using all appropriate methods and protocols.
• Identifies patients accurately and ensures proper specimen labeling.
• Recognizes and addresses special collection situations and patient needs.
• Processes, transports, and manages specimens efficiently and accurately.
• Utilizes laboratory and electronic health record systems effectively.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked workspace.
• Provides patient companion services and monitors patient safety.
• Communicates courteously and empathetically with patients, families, and staff.
• Participates in training and supports competency development for team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Experience Requirement
0-1 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
