Job Description:

Job Summary

Responsible for providing health care services by applying x-ray energy and computer processing techniques to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomical images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Ensures accuracy and quality of diagnostic images. Maintains compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards. Supports patient care by delivering timely and precise computed tomography imaging services.


Essential Functions

• Verifies orders and patient identity prior to examination, obtains and communicates clinical history.

• Operates computed tomographic equipment and accessories, demonstrating competency in CT techniques and safety procedures.

• Selects and edits scanning protocols to optimize diagnostic value, positions and accommodates patients, and responds to patient distress.

• Evaluates images for technical quality, uses display parameters, and ensures accurate patient identification on all images and CDs.

• Practices radiation protection principles to minimize exposure for patients, self, and others.

• Demonstrates competency in venipuncture, selects veins, and administers contrast media as prescribed.

• Performs diagnostic testing and quality assurance on equipment, reports malfunctions, and coordinates service as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or equivalent



Experience Requirement

2-5 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.


Certifications & Licensures

Basic Life Support (BLS), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with CT certification (ARRT) R.T.(CT)

Physical Demands
