Job Description:

Job Summary

Responsible for managing the Dietary Services Department to provide nourishing, palatable, well-balanced diets that meet residents’ daily nutritional and special dietary needs. Collaborates with the Dietitian to allocate department resources efficiently and economically. Ensures each resident receives food in the appropriate amount, type, consistency, and frequency to maintain body weight and nutritional values. Oversees care and sanitation of institutional food service equipment and workspaces. Maintains compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.


Essential Functions

• Plans menus with the Dietitian to meet residents’ nutritional needs and regulatory requirements.

• Prepares standard recipes and daily production sheets for dietary staff.

• Distributes menus to residents and posts them in accessible locations.

• Conducts meal observations, reviews records, and interviews staff and residents to ensure adequate nutrition.

• Adjusts menus to address inadequate intake or poor nutritional status in collaboration with nursing staff.

• Supervises food preparation to conserve nutritional value, flavor, and appearance.

• Organizes food preparation and service to ensure timely meal delivery and appropriate substitutes.

• Orders food economically from approved sources and maintains sufficient inventory.


• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area



Experience Requirement

0-4 years of relevant supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and supervisory/team lead experience typically required


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Physical Demands
