Supervisor, Patient Financial Services

Job Summary:
Responsible for supervising daily operations of patient financial services staff to ensure efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and timely account resolution. Provides direction in staffing and performance management to maintain service quality and accuracy. Develops processes to monitor productivity, optimize resources, and achieve departmental goals. Ensures customer satisfaction, adherence to policies, and alignment with organizational financial objectives. Coordinates reporting, escalations, and workflow adjustments to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Essential Functions:
• Supervises daily work activities of patient financial services staff, including planning, scheduling, and monitoring assignments related to billing, follow-up, collections, and/or denials resolution.
• Trains, mentors, and evaluates staff performance to ensure compliance, productivity, and professional growth.
• Oversees workflow management by monitoring volume, adjusting assignments, and ensuring timely resolution of accounts.
• Ensures adherence to organizational policies, departmental procedures, HIPAA, FDCPA, and other regulatory standards.
• Conducts interviews, selects candidates, and makes recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, and corrective action.
• Reviews reports and dashboards to track metrics, identify trends, and adjust staffing or processes to meet departmental goals.
• Facilitates staff meetings, communicates expectations, and provides coaching to improve team engagement and accountability.
• Serves as escalation resource for complex or unresolved account issues and ensures appropriate resolution.
• Coordinates with leadership to align staffing, resources, and departmental objectives with organizational financial goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Requirement: 0-4 years of experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
