Pavilion Cafe Attendant

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Works with the department to ensure high quality meals are being served to customers and team members of the Pavilion. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and maintains a compassionate and pleasant disposition to assure customer safety and satisfaction. 
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Understands and complies with work rules and safety regulations.
    • Works any shift necessary for the adequate coverage of the department and additional hours if needed.
    • Attends all mandatory training programs.
    • Responsible for keeping work area clean and sanitized.
    • Inspects all work surfaces and equipment to assure cleanliness, and safe and proper operation of equipment.
    • Serves food to cafe customers and team members.
    • Accurately inputs transactions in the register.
    • Prepares reports for register transactions.
    • Reads and records totals shown on cash register tape.
    • Collects soiled meal trays from cafe table.
    • Disassembles and reassembles parts of equipment to clean and operate.
    • Immerses, scrubs, washes, wipes and manipulates equipment, parts, utensils, and dishes to clean.
    • Follows written safe food handling procedures; washes hands frequently, handles dishes, equipment and flatware to avoid food contact surface contamination.
    • Selects appropriate cleaning and sanitizing solutions, follows safety precautions when using hazardous chemicals, wears goggles, gloves, masks, or other personal protective equipment according to written instructions.
    • Reads thermometer to measure temperatures of food and equipment to assure safe holding temperatures.
    • Carries and safely handles hot liquids and foods.
    • Safely manipulates knives to peel, chop and slice food.
    • Prepares food items according to written instructions.
    • Selects and manipulates dishes and utensils to portion menu items.
    • Portions and measures menu items accordingly to production schedule or menu stated amounts.
    • Inspects all work surfaces and equipment to assure cleanliness and safe and proper operation of equipment.
    • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors in department.
    • Lifts trays of food or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Properly wraps, dates, labels, and initials food items for storage.
    • Reads and interprets written directions to prepare food.
    • Cleans and operates a variety of food preparation and ware washing equipment.
    • Answers telephone calls in a polite and courteous manner. Accurately records messages.
    • Performs necessary clerical duties as needed.
    • Familiar with all functionalities of register system.
    • Uses good hand hygiene practices.
    • Counts and matches items with written list to inventory stock, orders supplies as needed, and places items in assigned areas to organize stock.
    • Compares purchases to package slips or invoices to receive food and supplies.
    • Inspects food and supplies upon delivery, according to HACCP guidelines, to ensure that products meet specified standards.
    • Stores and rotates stock.
    • Cleans and organizes walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas.
    • Collects garbage and lifts garbage into dumpster.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Successful completion of Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Assessment.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • 1-year food service experience.
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet/and humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with continuous noise form dishwashing machines, steam operated equipment, conveyers and cart transport.
    • The department mandates a clean and sanitary work environment that requires each employee to bathe daily, restrain hair, and wear clean clothing daily to avoid contamination of food and work surfaces.
