Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Under the supervision of the Director of Construction,  Construction Manager or designee, performs duties relevant to, but not limited to the installation of electrical systems and equipment.  The Electrician shall also perform routine and preventive maintenance and trouble-shooting to electrical systems and equipment in the Medical Center or the Medical Center properties. The electrician shall be a resource person for other staff and outside vendors when needed.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    • Installs conduit, EMT, PVC and cables in a timely professional manner.
    • Installations shall comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC 70).
    • Installs electrical services where needed and accompanies electrical inspector where applicable.
    • Does minor electrical layouts and develops material list for all minor jobs.
    • Responsible for the service, repairs and testing of Emergency generators, automatic transfer equipment and all other associated equipment.
    • Work with contractors or In- House Maintenance Electricians as a resource to new electrical infrastructure.
    • Assists with on-the-job training when assigned. Attends all required in-services on a regular basis.
    • Assists with ordering of electrical parts when necessary, keeps stock levels at an adequate level and organized.
    • Reports all unsafe conditions and equipment to immediate supervisor. Adheres to electrical lockout program and performs work in a safe manner.
    • Provides on call and technical assistance for the repair of any equipment and utility system.
    • Documents all preventive and corrective maintenance as required.
    • Utilizes personal protective equipment as required.
    • Maintains confidentiality.
    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
    • Reports on the job as scheduled.
    • Follows all standard safety precautions.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
      • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent experience and/or training
      • Six months to one year related experience and/or training
      • Current driver’s license
      • Journeyman's Electricial License
    • Preferred qualifications:
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Constantly works near electrical items.
    • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
    • Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
    • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • Frequently exposed to a risk of electrical shock.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Constantly required to move about throughout the department and facility.
    • Constantly required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
    • Occasionally required to operate a computer and other equipment.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
