Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Installs and repairs industrial and commercial refrigerating systems.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    • Lays out reference points for installation of structural and functional components.
    • Drills holes and installs mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building.  Lifts or hoists and aligns components into position.
    • Screws, bolts, rivets, welds, and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes.  Cuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system of premises.
    • Pumps specified gas or fluid into system.
    • Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system.
    • Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Associate's degree (A. A.) from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent experience and/or training.
      • Six months to one year related experience and/or training in HVAC
      • CFC Certificate
      • Current valid driver’s license
      • Maintains active KY Journeyman’s HVAC License
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • N/A
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Constantly works near moving mechanical parts.
    • Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
    • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Constantly required to move about throughout the department and facility.
    • Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
    • Occasionally required to operate a computer and other equipment.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
