JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator- Clinical Quality is responsible for clinical staff compliance to regulatory and clinical practice standards including the education of clinical personnel in electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and clinical competencies

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-
Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:

Works with Clinical Director and Practice Manager(s) to orient new clinical team members to the medical practice environment.

Along with leadership team, determines clinical education needs of the nursing, physician and mid-level providers. Coordinates and/or performs this education. Includes implementing annual competency testing and training of nursing professionals in the medical practice environment.

Performs quality auditing and reporting on EMR system with feedback direct to providers. Produces various reports and performs various other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director; Serves as a liaison between clinicians and EMR analysts for maintenance of treatment and therapy plans; Coordinates with Clinical Director and Practice Manager to orient new clinical team members to the clinical workflow of the EMR and documentation process as assigned.

Collaborates with Pharmacists and clinicians for ongoing treatment and therapy plan reviews and updates; Contributes clinical nursing expertise to initial treatment and therapy plan development as assigned

Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the quality plan and patient care policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency in the medical practice environment

Provides inservices on new equipment and/or procedures as necessary under the direction of the Clinical Director.

Maintains all educational, competency, CEU records and proficiency levels of assigned team. Serves as a preceptor and resource person in assisting nursing staff to develop skills in the performance of assigned activities/perform duties of staff nurse as necessary. Serves as a primary resource for all clinical educational requests after orientation for assigned team.

Maintains professional growth and development through an ongoing process of formal and informal education and clinical nursing study. Identifies self-learning needs, establishes personal goals; maintains current knowledge base and assists with providing education of health care consumer and other healthcare team members. Supports evidence-based practice by applying knowledge/research findings as reporting in the professional literature to clinical practice

Develops implements and participates in Quality Improvement processes, activities, performance measurement, and evaluation outcomes with Commission on Cancer Accreditation (COC); Works with Clinical Director, Supervisors, and Practice Managers of Oncology to orient new clinical team members to the Practice environment;Along with the leadership team, determines clinical education needs for nursing, physician and mid-levels providers. Along with Clinical Director and Clinical Supervisors of Oncology, develops education competency for Chemotherapy proficiency for new RN’s and all current RN’s for all infusion centers; Serves as a preceptor and resource person in assisting nursing staff to develop skills in performance of assigned activities/perform duties of staff nurse as necessary; Serves as a primary resource for all clinical education request after orientation for assigned team; as assigned.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum requirement:
-
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurses.
-
Maintains active RN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and State of Ohio

Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
-
Five years of professional nursing experience
-
3 years Oncology/Infusion Experience
-
Achieves and Maintains OCN Certification within 1 year of start date

Preferred qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
-
Medical Practice experience preferred
