JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Medical technologist in the Chemistry/Microbiology/Hematology Departments when possible.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for specimen preparation, identification of specimen and request, separation of samples, cells from plasma, and work organization.

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Assist Medical technologists in daily work where and when possible, by processing samples and placing prepared samples on the analyzers, but cannot release results.
- Answers telephone promptly and professionally.
- Begins quality control studies according to established protocols, by placing the quality control materials on the analyzers, but cannot release quality control results.
- Reports malfunction of equipment and/or computer to technologists or Supervisor immediately.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement:

Minimum requirement: Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or maintains enrollment and satisfactory standing in an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program.
