Mgr-Biomed Engineering

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Ensures the overall operation of Bio - Medical Engineering Department meets specific needs of the Medical Center and accordingly meets required recommended standards set forth by regulating authorities such as JCAHO, OSHA, NIOS-H, NFPA, ETC. Manages clinical equipment projects, provides oversight of operations, service levels, budgets and installations with equipment users, outside vendors, and departments as required.
  • DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Establishes and maintains "Equipment Management" portion of the "Environment of Care"; maintains database for clinical equipment inventories and equipment histories; maintains procedures for clinical equipment corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and entire operation of the Bio-Medical Engineering Department.
    • Participates in the interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems as applicable.
    • Works closely with Risk Management, Materials Management & clinical users on product alerts and equipment related incidents.
    • Will be an active member of the Medical Center Safety Committee and the Environment of Care Committee and will report regularly on Equipment Management and Products & Safety Alerts.
    • Maintains parts ordering system for Bio-Medical Engineering.
    • Has responsibility for the supervision of all team members in Bio-Medical Engineering; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizations policies/procedures and applicable laws.
    • Manages Biomed & Radiology portions of the third-party Master Services Agreement.  Serves as a liaison between KDMC and external equipment and service providers.
    • Monitor equipment contracts not under the third-party Master Services Agreement and ensures duplications are mitigated.
    • Maintain the Parts Inventory in the AIMS for Biomedical parts and accessories not covered under the Master Services Agreement.  
    • Prepares, reconciles and distributes monthly expense and operational reports.
    • Manages biomedical budget.
    • Generate committee and financial reports for KDMC & KDOH monthly.
    • Organize and facilitate quarterly review meetings with third-party services provider and various KDMC & KDOH departments to review and evaluate third-party provider service levels.
    • Coordinate server needs and assist in maintaining operation and accuracy of services with IST for various biomedical systems including patient monitoring and nurse call. 
    • Work with vendor to evaluate and approve monthly reconciliations. Also receive, review, and approve monthly invoices for the Master Services Agreement.
    • Receive, review, and approve all Capital Equipment Request regarding medical equipment.
    • Help leaders prepare for equipment budgets.
    • Communicate, manage and process medical equipment recall notifications in partnership with Biomed to ensure recalls are reported, documented and acted upon timely and appropriately.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Four to ten years related experience and/or training.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • AAMI Certification
      • Master's Degree
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • This job operates in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers.
    • Occasionally requires travel to and from off-site locations
    • The noise level in this position is usually low
