Job Description:

Job Summary

Responsible for providing health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Performs medical imaging techniques and related procedures to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Ensures accuracy and quality of imaging results. Maintains compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Supports patient care by delivering timely and precise diagnostic images.


Essential Functions

• Verifies patient identity and exam orders prior to breast imaging procedures.

• Obtains and communicates relevant clinical history from charts, referrals, or patient interviews.

• Performs breast imaging procedures and operates mammography equipment according to established protocols and safety standards.

• Positions patients appropriately for examinations, explaining and applying proper breast compression.

• Assists licensed practitioners during interventional procedures, needle localizations, and aspirations.

• Performs radiography of pathologic breast specimens with technical accuracy.

• Evaluates mammograms for technical quality and ensures accurate patient identification on all images.

• Applies radiation safety principles to minimize exposure for patients, self, and others.

• Performs quality control testing on equipment and reports malfunctions as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or equivalent.



Experience Requirement

0–2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.


Certifications & Licensures

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, RT(R) and RT(M) within 12 months of hire. Active state radiogorapher license.
