Job Summary

Responsible for directing daily operations of the Environmental Services program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions throughout the Medical Center. Promotes a climate of efficiency, cohesiveness, and self-pride among staff. Ensures ample supply of clean linen and manages the hazardous waste program. Supports facility operations by coordinating tasks personally or through subordinate supervisors.


Essential Functions

• Directs daily operations and work schedules of the Environmental Services department.

• Provides leadership, training, and performance evaluation for Environmental Services supervisors and staff.

• Interviews, selects, orients, and assists in training new team members.

• Inspects and evaluates facility conditions, quality of work, and compliance with standards.

• Coordinates the Hazardous Waste program and maintains the Hazardous Material Management Plan in compliance with regulations.

• Develops and manages departmental budgets, monitors expenditures, and recommends resource needs.

• Develops, reviews, and implements departmental policies, procedures, goals, and standards.

• Acts as a liaison with key customers, vendors, and departmental leaders.


• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in environmental service, public health, or a related field



Experience Requirement

4-5 years of experience in environmental service, public health, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
