Job Summary

Responsible for assisting in the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Gains experience in applying academic knowledge to patient care while learning operational, clinical, and regulatory aspects of pharmacy practice. Supports the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered medication therapy and participates in educational activities required for licensure.


Essential Functions

• Assists a licensed pharmacist in reviewing and processing medication orders for accuracy and therapeutic appropriateness.

• Prepares, compounds, labels, and dispenses medications under direct supervision following established protocols and safety procedures.

• Supports medication reconciliation, inventory management, and restocking of automated dispensing systems as directed.

• Participates in patient counseling and education activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

• Assists in monitoring medication therapy and collecting patient data to support clinical decision-making.

• Observes and participates in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, and case discussions as part of professional training.

• Maintains accurate documentation of compounding logs, medication dispensing, and quality assurance records.

• Ensures compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in all pharmacy operations.

• Engages in structured learning experiences, competency assessments, and feedback sessions to prepare for pharmacist licensure.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
