JOB SUMMARY
-
The Educator-Pharmacy Technician will function as a trainer to both newly hired and existing pharmacy technician team members. This role supports the team whose mission is to fully implement and deliver training capabilities and resources to support operational needs, in collaboration with clinical leaders and subject matter experts. This role will utilize system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new and existing team members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for initial education/training for all new pharmacy technicians
- Overall performance of below indicated essential job duties:
-
Plan and implement educational activities/in-services to support individual development and organizations goals
-
Provide feedback to the team member in a timely manner
-
Assess and evaluate progression of orientation within the pharmacy in collaboration with pharmacy operations supervisor

Informs appropriate leaders when team member is unable to successfully complete or is noncompliant with required competencies

Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and operational an clinical expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members

Contributes to development of competencies and educational modules as appropriate in conjunction with subject matter experts

Educate staff on standards and regulations for CMS and TJC

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum requirement:
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Maintains active Kentucky Board of Pharmacy registration
-
Maintains active PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification, or National Healthcareer Association Certified Pharmacy Technician certification
-
Three (3) years inpatient pharmacy experience
-

Preferred qualifications:
-
Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Powerpoint)

Trained in sterile product compounding, both hazardous and nonhazardous
-

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Constantly works near moving mechanical parts

Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.

Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
