Job Summary:
Responsible for managing and overseeing performance improvement, reporting, and data analytics for Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) and coding operations. Provides leadership and direction to supervisors and staff, ensuring accurate coding, documentation compliance, and process efficiency. Implements operational strategies to drive improvements in coding and CDI performance while supporting revenue cycle objectives. Collaborates with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational leadership to ensure alignment of initiatives and effective departmental execution.
Essential Functions:
• Manages and oversees coding and CDI performance improvement initiatives, ensuring operational goals are met and processes are executed efficiently.
• Oversees the collection, analysis, and reporting of coding and CDI metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for targeted intervention.
• Delivers insightful, actionable reports on coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) performance metrics to support informed decision-making and drive process enhancements. actionable reporting on coding and CDI performance metrics.
• Ensures coding and documentation practices support accurate risk adjustment, appropriate reimbursement, and quality measurement.
• Identifies and communicates opportunities for targeted coding training or process improvements based on analysis of coding data and performance metrics.
• Coordinates with revenue cycle, clinical, and operational teams to execute improvement strategies and ensure timely resolution of issues..
• Supervises and directs supervisors and/or individual contributors, including assigning work, monitoring performance, providing coaching, and conducting performance evaluations
• Reports findings and recommendations to the leadership to support strategic decision making.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience Requirement:
4-5 years of related/progressive experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
Certifications & Licensures:
Registered Nurse license, RHIA Certification, CPMA, CCDS, Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
