Telecommunications Analyst

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Monitors, operates, installs and maintains telecommunications systems and equipment in addition to troubleshooting any type of hardware or software related problems to ensure those systems perform in a manner which best meets business needs and objectives of KDMC. This position is also responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunication equipment at KDMC as well as being expected to assist in the installation of telecom equipment for new company facilities. This position must possess knowledge of data scopes, patch panels, modems as well as various analog and digital signaling systems. This position also must have a working knowledge of TIA/EIA cabling standards, and the ability to pull and terminate cabling and grounding systems for these standards.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Provides technical support and quality service to KDMC customers by: Coordinating installation and labeling of communications (data and voice) cabling, including fiber optic (interior). Testing of communications (data and voice) cabling, including fiber optic (interior). Providing hands-on assistance and troubleshoots phone equipment failures and service issues for KDMC staff. Providing training and technical expertise for the use of phone equipment and the voice mail system.
    • Evaluates current and future communications (data and voice) needs by: Participating with KDMC staff and vendors in system design and modification to accommodate system requirements and maintain compatibilities.
    • Keeps abreast of, and maintains knowledge of, hardware and software technologies pertinent to the needs of KDMC and, specifically, the software programs being utilized and equipment currently in operation.
    • Maintaining records, reports and files as required by departmental policies and procedures.
    • Monitoring trends and developments in information technology / communications; also communicating with IST management regarding new technology and enhancements.
    • Provides documentation and reporting.

  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Minimum of two years of progressively more responsible experience in a related support area (i.e., information systems, voice communications).
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Preference will be given to candidates with training and experience with those software and hardware products regularly used by KDMC.
